Telit Cinterion and Commstar Radio partner to bring multi-network connectivity to municipal and critical infrastructure operations

Telit Cinterion, an enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), has announced a partnership with Commstar Radio, a Wisconsin-based technology and communications company. Through the partnership, Commstar Radio will offer Telit Cinterion’s NExT SIM connectivity solution, giving customers access to multiple carrier networks on a single SIM for secure communications in urban, rural and hard-to-reach areas.

The NExT SIM connectivity solution provides secure access through a single SIM to more than 600 mobile carrier networks globally, including the three major US networks. Built on Telit Cinterion’s georedundant NExT global network, it supports cellular technologies from 2G to 5G and serves both low-power wide-area (LPWA) devices and high-bandwidth applications.

With NExT SIM, Commstar Radio can now offer customers resilient multi-network connectivity, Cat M and narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) coverage and greater operational reliability across urban, rural and hard-to-reach environments.

Commstar Radio specialises in wireless communications and connectivity for organisations that depend on reliable service in demanding environments, including municipalities, utilities, transportation providers, field service teams and public infrastructure operators. Its services span land mobile communications, push-to-talk over cellular, wireless infrastructure connectivity, secure wireless services, mobile device management, cloud communications and cybersecurity.

The company serves customers across sectors such as:

  • Utilities
  • Field services
  • Local government
  • Energy
  • Transportation
  • Public infrastructure

An initial deployment with the Village of Reeseville, Wisconsin, demonstrates how Commstar Radio and Telit Cinterion are delivering resilient multi-network connectivity for municipal communications and public service operations.

“Commstar Radio has been a trusted and reliable partner for the Village of Reeseville since the company’s inception,” said Jake Pacala, the village president of Reeseville, Wisconsin. “Municipalities require an abundance of services in this domain, making reliability and service a must. When asked by neighbouring municipalities for recommendations in this field, Commstar Radio is the first we mention.”

“Our customers depend on communications systems that work wherever their teams operate,” said Kevin Hankes, the president of Commstar Radio. “By partnering with Telit Cinterion, we can provide resilient multi-network connectivity across urban and rural environments while giving customers greater reliability, security and flexibility than traditional single-carrier solutions.”

“Organisations responsible for public services, utilities, transportation and field operations need connectivity that goes beyond a single carrier, leveraging multiple networks to protect critical operations,” said Martin Krona, the president of services and solutions at Telit Cinterion. “Together with Commstar Radio, we’re enabling secure, resilient communications that can intelligently leverage multiple carrier networks to keep people, devices and operations connected.”
